Keiran Gibbs set on joining Newcastle after FA Cup Final omission

Arsenal have signed left-back Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer for next season and with Nacho Monreal first-choice, Kieran Gibbs' days are numbered at the Emirates.

The Englishman has been plagued by injuries his whole career and was reported as injured, then ill, before the FA Cup final but was angered after not being told about his omission from the squad by Arsene Wenger.

So Gibbs is set to leave Arsenal in the summer after a massive 10 years since making his debut for the North London club, with Newcastle his most likely destination. A fee of around £6 million should be enough to bring him to Tyneside and would be a much-welcomed addition to take over the left-back duties from Paul Dummett.

The semi-retired Welsh international Geordie wizard just isn't up to scratch for the Premier League. He was decent in the important games during our Championship campaign, with keeping Brighton's 'Championship Player of the Year' Anthony Knockaert quiet being the highlight, but he still showed on countless occasions his lack of positional sense, total reluctance to ever get forward and still has a massive mistake waiting to happen in his locker.

Gibbs is an experienced 27-year-old with a point to prove, given he has never quite made the most of his potential. If he can stay injury free, then he will be as solid a left-back as we could ever hope to bring in for a reasonable fee.

  1. Your a total fuck nugget! Did you watch any Championship games? Dummy was a stand out performer all season, had every player he came up against in his pocket, hardly made a mistake, but because he's not a stylish attacking full back you rate him as "not good enough" Name one instance where his "positional sense" came into question. he's a defender, not a attacker you giant cunt fuck! People like you are idiots, just no idea.

  2. Effin' hell Cairnsy! I am sure you could voice your opinion (which you are entitled to) in a more ethical way. I for myself am happy if we got Gibbs as I do also think that Dummy isn't EPL material, unfortunately. Peace out :-)

    1. Dummy quite clearly not good enough at LB if we want to build a decent team. Gibbs would be more than adequate, only his injury problems that concerns me.

  3. I vote yes for Kieran Gibbs. I've been Newcastle fan since 1998. In my opinion, we never had any decent left back since Jose Enrique left us for Liverpool, eventhough I'm not a fan of him. For me, the last Toon's left back who I like is Olivier Bernard (remember him?). I think if Gibbs comes in, he would not get injured so much since Arsenal's training method is different from Newcastle's (again only my opinion). If you look at the stats, so many Arsenal players are injured these last few years back. Quite strange for me. So, I'm quite confident if Gibbs come, he will be an upgrade for Dummet and could play lots of games for Newcastle (no matter how much Dummet is improving in championship last season, he lacks of pace and could easily been exposed by our opponent's pacey winger/overlapping full back). And he will give the balance offensively at the left with Yedlin on the right. And Gibbs is quite sound defensively too, if you observe his game. One aspect Gibbs need to improve is his crossing, I think. His crossing quite weak and lacks of pace. Finger crossed, I really wish we can get Shaw to be our number 3 as he is wasted an Man U. Hope Benitez reading this. Hahahaha....
