The Team To Shred The Swans?

Unbelievably NUFC will be kicking off a home game on a Saturday afternoon at 3-o-clock. Ho-ho, 3 o clock kick off, you know, hmm, on a Saturday, hmm, small boys in the park, jumpers for goalposts, you know, marvellous  Along with this very rare occurrence on every one's lips is what team will Pardew pick, or even more specifically, what formation?

After another debacle home performance last Sunday, with this time the result to go with it, the very much maligned dead, flat, clueless, lets just kick it forward 4-4-2 'system' (I use the term loosely) has to go. For good! Even though we have a few injuries to first team players, it doesn't matter. This diabolical way of attempting to win a game of football in our own stadium doesn't work with these players, so what will it be like without them? Worse? Probably. Cabaye is out, Jonas is out and Coloccini is still suspended. There are also small question marks over whether Cisse will be available, as Senegal are attempting to block his inclusion as he failed to turn up for them for their match earlier this week. I can't see this happening however, we will find a way around it. One piece of good news is Chiek Tiote has served his suspension and apparently has vowed to change his poor disciplinary ways. I'll believe that when I see it...

So with all this in mind, what will/should the team be come Saturday afternoon? This is my suggestion:

Ben Arfa has been totally wasted so far this season at St James', I even wrote an article on it Ben-Arfa-is-being-totally-wasted so in my eyes, he has to be given the number 10 role. The role he craves. We don't want to see Ben Arfa chasing back to either cover his full back or to collect the ball way too deep to make difference. We want him in the final third at all times. Give him the freedom of the pitch to destroy Swansea from all angles. Not by being handcuffed to the right sideline. Away from home? Maybe. At home against the likes of Swansea? No point. Unleash the beast.

I am desperate for Ferguson to play at left back as he will offer genuine width, an attacking threat and has the quality to deliver into the box at the drop of a hat. Something Santon fails to do from the left or Simpson fails to do full stop. We have to start trying this in my opinion as we have no real threat at goal from our full backs. If we think of ourselves as a top team, then this position shouldn't be for defending only. Look at Baines at Everton. Cole and Ivanovic at Chelsea. Evra and Rafael at Manure. Kolarov and Zabaleta at Citeh. We need to add this weapon to our armoury. We have the players. Use them.

(These are the areas we have created chances from. This is why we need Fergie at LB.)

I am also desperate to get the best out of Cisse once again. He isn't the same player he was when he first came. My own reasoning for this is when he plays as a front two with Demba Ba, Demba is no further than 5 yards away from him at all times. It's like a big shadow he cant shake off. Papiss craves space. He has more ability than Demba at making those clever runs and has the finish to match. Demba is stronger than Cisse at playing the 'inside forward' role on the left so for the sake of the team, he must play it. I don't care if he doesn't like it. Just do it. We aren't playing well enough to justify any players ego over the team.

The rest pick themselves. I don't mind if Bigi or Anita plays but seeing as Anita has hit a bit of form recently, it would be a shame to drop him. If Sammy Ameobi is fit then he should take up that inside forward role from the right. He has the skills and the left foot to create havoc. If not, Obertan can use his pace to good use and stretch the Swansea defence to leave space for the centre forward and the loose cannon Ben Arfa.

The above team should be able to beat Swansea with not much drama. The team are hurting at the minute. Some are just plain angry as Ben Arfa has said in the press recently. Let's get the ball on the deck and attack Swansea at the throat. Give it to Ben Arfa as much as possible as I have the feeling he is going to rip these Swans to shreds. If we see Willo and Taylor cowardly lumping the ball up to Demba and Cisse in this horrendous Sunday league nonsense, there will be more than just one fan slating Pardew from the stands like last Sunday.

He will hear the full force of a discontented Geordie crowd. It isn't pretty. Pardew's been warned...

  2. Given our form, I don't know where you get over confidence from?

    All the best for tomorrow.

    1. I suggest you notice the question mark. It was a question, not a statement.

  4. TB you and I both know your overly attacking formation doesnt stand a "cat in hells chance" of making it to the team sheet while "Pardwho the Cautious" is in charge. Even when he starts 4-3-3 he cant help himself but change back to 4-4-2 after 45 minutes :(

Yet we were all told that Hughton was replaced by a "more experienced" manager ?

  5. True. But all we can do is keep hoping. What else can we do?

  6. We can let him and the Board know the strength of our feelings over and over again.

Its no surprise that Pardwho's quoted this week as "wanting to entertain" after the slagging off he got in the blogs and MB's over Sunday's woeful display.

The problem is Pardwho thinks "entertaining" means both Obertan and HBA on the pitch at the same time :(

  7. Top Blog Toon Bano. Well written meaningful Piece like most I read from you. Not any of that rehashed copy and paste rubbish you see everywhere else on the net, plus It helps that I completely agree with you. If Only Pardew would listen to the faithful and just persist in an attacking formation at home anyway...we have the players to pass so lets let them pass or are we as toon fans over hyping are own players thinking they're better than what they are?
I swear iF Benny. Yohan, Demba, Paps and Santon played in any other team they would be twice the player. I still support Pardew but we need to play football.
